66 years of Smurfs: from comic book heroes to worldwide icons

On 23 October 1958 the world is introduced to the Smurfs, the brainchildren of Belgian comics artist Peyo. That day, they appear in the comics series Johan and Pierewit, which is published in several episodes in the weekly magazine Robbedoes. Since then, the Smurfs have grown into a worldwide phenomenon that continues to enchant children and adults alike.

On 23 October 2024, after a journey across Europe that included stops in Paris and Bratislava, to name but a few, sixty-six years to the day after their first appearance, the Smurfs are returning to Brussels! From 23 October 2024, adventurers great and small are once again welcome to visit their magical world that will take over Brussels Expo’s Palais 2.
